They always pretend terrorism comes from outside, that we are going to be invaded by who knows what, who knows who. But the most dangerous terrorists are inside our countries, are citizens of our countries, and they target what they consider as ungodly, immoral, unethical, according to their gospel of strict obedience to nature, history or the Bible, at times even the Quran. That's the compost on which populism grows. Get an antidote if tehre is any.

One time is not all the time, and for once I will start with the music. This supposedly anti-opera uses the orchestra and some "instruments" that are not real instruments with great imagination and great creativity. The car horn prelude opens the opera, and a second car horn prelude opens the second scene of the opera. A doorbell prelude opens the second part of the opera, the third scene of it. A simple Interlude will open the fourth scene which is the epilogue. The finale of this epilogue will be a passacaglia. The first three opening pieces are, of course, surprising on an opera stage, but car horns, doorbells, bicycle bells, train noises and many other noises of this industrial and urban type have been used regularly and even systematically by Pierre Schaefer to only quote one and he did that at the end of the second world war in Paris and went on doing it to his very end. And what about Steve Reich and his "Different Trains"? I guess the beautifully dressed Dames, Madams and Ladies in Paris Opera who had brought eggs for the end of the premiere of the creation of this opera with Daniel Mesguich as stage director in 1981 must have been shocked by this music that sounded like the noise in the streets of Paris at rush hours, and probably by the obscene language and at least erotic situations. Or maybe they were only afraid of death, I mean Death, and even maybe D-D-DEATH , though for them surviving death with sex might be slightly too enticing to be true. What is a lot more interesting at the level of the music is, in fact, the great flexibility in styles and genres that stick so well to the great varieties of situations and characters in the opera? The two lovers, Amando and Amanda, originally named in a far more explicit way Spermando and Clitoria by the original storyteller Michel de Ghelderode, the two lovers then who start the opera with a love scene and close the opera with another love

In a preparatory school for Black Boys, hence all-male environment and a nearly all-black environment centering on the choir of this school, two tenors, one baritone and one bass, specializing in Gospels, the new choir leader is a tenor who lives on a scholarship and is gay. The other tenor becomes disruptive and aggressive against this choir leader. But it ends badly in many ways because of the semi-clandestine but never discussed sexual orientations or desires of the various members of this school. Sex is hushed up completely, and it becomes a weapon in teh hands of an ambitious person.

When you come to the point that you do not want to work, and you are declared handicapped to that much, but yet you want to live a decent life, things become slightly dire. If you are retired at 57 with an average pension and you have thirty years of survival in front of you in solitude or semi-couple-solitude with that average pension, you have to be very careful due to inflation and the two cars you want to keep in the garage and the roof that has not been insulated and the windows that are not double-glazing, and so on. Then you become depressed. Then you try to escape in fairy tales with the famous Alice. But that does not pay for the trip of your life to China, a dream that will not become true. Then you think, let's have a demonstration, let's have a rebellion, let's have a revolution, or even let's make this country great again and let's give some premiums to the previously-hard-working retirees, as if any populist would keep such a promise. That's what Leo is telling us. Fascinating and illuminating.

Tomorrow, or already today, you will have to work with Artificial Intelligence machine. That means you will have to constantly self-learn new skills and new things to be up to these machines and keep them under control. You will constantly be searching for knowledge, accessing it, acquiring it in a way or another, and implementing it in your daily practice. That will be the rule. All other less active and more passive attitudes will be doomed and deemed to disappear. Do you want to disappear with them? And by 2100 the population will just be the same as today because making kids will no longer be the opbjective of both men and women since their objective will be to learn and improve themselves.

Anthropology cannot work like comparative literature. The meaning of anthropology, of history, of archaeology, is in the differences between things and not the similitudes. By reducing all myths, mythologies, folkloric or fairy tales to all common points he gets a skeleton and yet this skeleton does not consider many things that do not go the way Campbell wants things to go. His monomyth is just what it says it is, a myth, meaning it does not exist because it negates differences. It sounds to me like a "Black Face" that is denying each individual teh right and duty to be different from all others.

He is this generation of Germans that will have to take the lead in a difficult world and bring the turn-around turning point we need to get out of the selfish mercantile world we are having today and take the road to global sustainability for everyone in the world. The Chinese are polluting in total quantity more than the USA, which means they are polluting at least three times less than the Americans by million inhabitants. I have included a long email from Franz Graw explaining in German and in Google English his objectives and ambitions. Mussorgsky deals with the shift from a corrupted authoritarian and even dictatorial regime to a new generation of leaders who are going to open the country and bring it to some kind of prestige if not greatness. This is done, both in the libretto and in the music, extremely well and the corruption is depicted with precision and even at times some cruel exposition. The music varies from popular to marvelously modern and the end of the opera is so spectacular and would require so many special effects that the solution chosen in 2007 in Barcelona is a miracle of sobriety.

The other day in Ivry, France, some tense and dense exchanges between me and an African-American turned short and bitter due to the arrogance of not asking the person she wanted to attack who he was. And what she considered as my ignorance on my part was, in fact, the pure reflection of her ignorance on her part. She was confronted to a challenge with Indian Ocean slavery that she did not know, so she rejected me without inquiring if I knew transatlantic slave trade. American Academic Arrogance, AAA. Nothing ethnic but intellectually tribal.
I have met that arrogance a few times, but it is a shame because we could have exchanged information on the two main slave trades of the planet. But when someone does not want to discuss it is better to shift to another media, which I am doing right now.

Let's enjoy some extreme trips to the far side of our daily life.
You will first meet Lord Byron and his "Manfred", and then Robert Schumann and his own "Manfred" sung here by Dennis Laubenthal in German.
Then I will take you on a complete retrospective of "Prison Break," including the fifth and final season.
The next stop will be in Germany and you will discover the great music of Franz Graw in his CD "Wir kaufen die Welt" and his reflection on globalism. It is refreshing to have imperialistic globalism exposed without any bombs, Kalashnikovs and other killing devices.
We will then move to the BBC, hence to Britain and discover the series "Criminal Justice" and its two seasons, in fact, two cases of miscarriage of justice even if in the end the innocent man is freed and the not guilty woman is sent to prison for five years. That's British Brexit justice.
And to conclude I will take you to the music of the Grateful Dead, "Shakedown New York," as a tribute of the fiftieth anniversary of Woodstock and they (who is they, who knows?) have announced they will celebrate this event grandiosely.

This book is a long collection of cases of civilizations or countries that failed, how they failed, what were the causes of their failing (plus a few success stories). This insistence on failing makes it very pessimistic in many ways. But the second characteristic is that the book does not explore the past for itself, but it is exploring the past to draw lessons for the present. The basic assumption is thus that the present world is on the brink of failing or collapsing. That takes a lot of value from the book because then the cases are understood as being illustrations if not arguments for the importance of climate change in human history, and the importance of environmental sustainability. And actually, we are brought to thinking that some cases have been over-exploited in that direction; The main shortcoming is that at times the book is retrospective. It does not try to understand what happened in the past, but it looks at it with a modern vision, a modern interpretation, something that is anachronistic in the past situations that are concerned.

Sir Eric (Thompson) was knighted by the Queen of England in 1975, just before his passing away, to thank him for all he had done in the field of Maya research. But what on earth had he done?
He had blocked for at least forty years all research about Maya writing because for him all these signs and carvings and paintings and decorations in stone, in paint, on walls, on pots, on plates, on bark-paper, all those monuments in the jungle were not writing, were not the written form of an oral language that had been in existence for thousands of years, but was the aesthetic beautiful artistic expression of no scribes but visionary shamans of some kind able to see beyond the surface of things and able to express directly the depth and beauty of the soul of the shamans, of the artists, of the Maya people. It was decreed by this Sir Eric (Thompson) that apart from the mathematical glyphs with numbers and long count, short count or whatever, all the rest was in no way linguistic and the dates and mathematical symbols were only the sign of the absolute addiction of the Maya to numbers, mathematics, time, and other figments of their somewhat troubled imagination during the long bouts of absolute drunkenness (drunken coma?) they enjoyed by enematic injections. They might even be astrologers, you know, these people who are predicting your future from the stars, telling you your horoscope in two sentences for the day, the week, the month, the years to come, even your life, though then they need a crystal ball or a pack of tarots cards. And mind you for them the planet Venus is supreme, male and vindictive in HIS request for blood. In other words, they were – and still are – barbarians according to these intellectuals who must be attracted to the subject by the scent of blood.

Happy Noël and Merry Nouvel An, or vice versa if you are gay-friendly. And if you are not gay-friendly, you better "virer votre cutie" as they say in French because today you have to be friendly to all those people around you, dead or alive. Of course, I thought of Hannukah and it is a little bit late. Of course, I am thinking of the New Year in Asia with dragons and fireworks, but we still have some time for that. Don't forget the Magis and of course, Chandeleur and the French crepes spread with sugarless chocolate paste, 95% chocolate. If you are in a yellow mood, drink some plain spring water and if you are in a red mood I guess white wine will do to soften the tinge. I do not know what you can do if you are in a dark blue nearly black mood. I do not spend much time with dark-blue-mooded people like Steve Bannon. But anyway enjoy the coming New Year and reserve a room in the closest hospital for a stomach pumping after the feast.

First season in New Orleans, fascinating. Second season in Vinci, California, a pale imitation of Los Angeles, totally disappointing. And the symbolism is excruciating. The three men in the five-people band of justice-makers are plainly killed at the end and only two women of this pentacle of self-appointed afficionados of justice survive in, mind you, the capital city of Venezuela. That kind of ending is absurd but it is teh perfect triumph of corruption, and in 2016 that was the announcement of the coming of the most trumpic monsters to Washington that is supposed to be the Bethlehem of democracy and is becoming the pantry of fake capricious whimsical dictatorship without the nerve to proclaim it, even if they declare themselves proud of closing up the governement, though they will not dare.

I would say that Hobbes' obsession with the senses is coming from his Puritan religious thinking. Sin is necessarily in the senses. Man is a sinner because he is dominated by his senses. At the same time man is nothing in front of God, though he was created in his image, because he is only a bunch of sensual, sensory sensations and he does not have the mind of God, just a divine soul that enables him to see the truth of God that he has to accept and obedience is the first and final quality of this puritan man. Note we find that kind of attitude in Bach too. Descartes is not different since he wants to prove by the development of science that the creation of God is perfect, and this perfection is the proof of the existence of God as a creator.
Aristotle was a pagan for Hobbes and as such missed the real point that man is nothing in the hand of God and that the senses or nothing but illusionary means of not knowing anything. Think of Plato and his famous cavern: man can only know what he can imagine about the shadows of the real world he captures in his cave of ignorance. Aristotle's dialectics must have been some kind of crime against God for Hobbes. How can there be one truth, then its opposite truth and then the final synthesis of these two becoming the truth in the end? Same thing with Descartes who is looking for the ultimate concept, the ultimate truth that stands beyond his sensory impressions and has to be deducted from these contradictory sensory impressions. and this pure unitary concept is the ultimate proof of the existence of God the creator of the world.
The materialism of these people is the result of the belief the world was created by God. God is a pure spiritual being, but his creation is pure matter. The materialism of these people in the 17th century was the result of their complete belief that the material world was perfect because it had been created by a pure spiritual force called God. Romania is not so far away, but it is such a long way to go there and for Romania to come here. They are in Europe with all the other romance-language countries of Europe, but it has not adopted the Euro - YET??? - but Serban Enache has a position of his own on the subject. Get out of the Euro, which Romania cannot do of course.
That's why he is a heretic: he defends for others a religion he cannot defend for himself: he definitely cannot get out of the Euro, and he does not know really all the pleasure it would bring him. Look at the exhilarating banquet of sweetbreads and tough meats they are trying to chew in England - note Scotland, not Wales and not Northern Ireland who did not want to have that Roman orgy - before ever being able to digest them. Brexit means Brexit, doesn't it? And particularly "breaxing" all your teeth and dentures on the Bone of May while dancing around the Maypole on the Village square on the village green.
Enjoy Serban Enache and his literature.

Michael D. Coe is probably one of the most important scholars on Maya culture, history, and language. All the questions he asks are justified and pertinent. He does not ask some questions I consider fundamental but that is because he is an anthropologist more than a linguist. But his opinions on all the subjects he considers are very fundamental.

Daniel Everett takes a strong stand against the innate theory of Chomsky that language is nothing but, and he insists on that nothing but, a universal grammar in an innate black box in man's brain installed there by a genetic mutation. Language is for Chomsky the product of that grammar-gene.
Of course, it is unreasonable. Communication is the word. It started long before Hominins but the first really bipedal upright Hominin, Homo Erectus, who was also the first migrating Hominin had to have developed a highh lervel of communication. That's Everett's main point.
I would just add thjat the communicational situation in which Hominins found themselves provided them with the matrix of our linguistic syntaxx. That's my argument that only amplifies Everett's arguiment.

This paper refers to a series of articles presenting three British authors who created their major works in war times or in between-two-wars times. T.S. Eliot, H.G. Wells, and C.S. Lewis.
T.S. Eliot considered in such periods we are Hollow men full of straw and when we see the bullies that are being elected or appointed in some countries, like Trump in the USA, we are well obliged to think and admit he was right.
H.G. Wells was for total white eugenics and he did not see it brought up the first world war - partly - and the second world war - entirely.
C.S. Lewis tried to look at the fate (or is it a curse?) of humanity from a Christian point of view a world where war would have been eliminated. His vision was optimistic and yet speking to the children that are in every single one of us.
Just follow teh links and get where those papers are, just for you of course.

Music is an adventure. It can choke your life out of touch with the world. It can build around you and in your mind a world that is so real you may even forget to breathe. And music is at its best when voices tell a story haunted by the music itself. I even think that ballet is even more powerful since it offers the audience the bodies of the dancers for this audience to admire them, dream of them, desire them within the shrine of the dramatic story told by the voices and wrapped up in the music itself.

James Crittle, a famous pilot of the French Air Force, later turned university professor, on February 18, 2015, was found dead in full uniform Rue Montmartre in Paris. He had used some cyanide to put an end to his life. The French Air Force took over his funeral in Bordeaux, but Joseph and Magdalena Seth, two young people who had been his friends up to three years before when James Crittle stepped out of their life without any explanation, hearing the news on the radio decided to claim his body since he had no known direct relatives.

BACK COVER PRESENTATION
Cro-Magnon’s language is an ambitious project in phylogenic linguistics. The objective is to go back to the shift from animal to human articulated language. Homo Sapiens some 300,000 years ago, found himself endowed with mutations selected by his being a long distance fast bipedal runner: a very low larynx; a complex articulating apparatus; a sophisticated coordinating system bringing together diaphragm, breathing, heartbeat, legs and general body posture. These three physiological improvements permitted new linguistic possibilities: more consonants; more vowels; a brain able to construct a mind both producing and produced by articulated language. This developed the ability to conceptualize and develop abstract thinking.
The phylogeny of language from a purely linguistic and cognitive point of view activates three articulations to generate human language: vowels and consonants; the morphology of the word from root to stem and then frond; the syntactic structures of utterances. This is based on the communicational syntax conveyed by the human communicational situation that requires the power to conceptualize, both daily procedural communication and inter/intra-generational cognitive and didactic communication.
Homo Sapiens evolved in Africa from previous hominins (Homo Faber or Homo Ergaster) that already migrated out of Africa to the Middle East and Central Asia where Neanderthals and Denisovans respectively evolved from them. The nest of this evolution is debated due to recent archaeological discoveries, but the first migration was in Africa from sub-Saharan Africa to Northern Africa. Then out of Africa.

SPECIAL FILE
FOR A DISCUSSION SESSION ON ACADEMIA.edu
This file gives you the introduction of what is the first part of a long research that has been going on for most of my life and has been progressively intensified since 2005 when I moved to Paris Sorbonne, and other Paris private or public universities.
This first part counts seven chapters.
CHAPTER ONE: The Triple Articulation of Language
CHAPTER TWO: Philogeny and Migrations
CHAPTER THREE: Agglutinative Language
CHAPTER FOUR: Theo Vennemann
CHAPTER FIVE: The Migrations
CHAPTER SIX: Darwinization in Question
CHAPTER SEVEN: Where Gustave Guillaume Meets with Sally McBrearty
This long introduction gives all the concepts and procedures used in the research. I submit this file for discussion before the publication of the whole work (the first part only though, seven chapters). The second part is ready to go through its final proof reading and assessment, which will take at least six months of hard work.
I hope you enjoy reading these pages and I hope you take part in the discussion. I will integrate, in a way or another, all remarks or contributions in the final published work. At the present moment the manuscript counts 372 pages with 347 pages of text and 23 pages of notes (514 notes so far), and 228,379 words at (the) last count.
I have added some pictures in this introduction to make it easier to read. These pictures are all rock face paintings dated, most of them, from before the Ice Age, from all over the world. The oldest are from Indonesia and those from Baja California are undated due so far to the fact that the colors used by the people who painted these rocks do not contain any charcoal or carbon. More advanced dating procedure have not yet been used. The meaning is clear: no matter where these Homo Sapiens migrated they took along with them one or several languages, first, and some other capabilities, abilities and competences that made them do very similar things in very different conditions. Homo Sapiens has always been a communicational being with articulated languages and appetency for spiritual and artistic endeavors.
I consider that was unique with Homo Sapiens though some other Hominins had varying degrees of such tools and potentials, but apparently none equaled Homo Sapiens’ survival capability.

BENJAMIN BRITTEN’S OPERAS
DEATH – MARGINALITY – TRANSCENDANCE – LOVE DENIAL
On the basis of the very first steps in that project for Avignon’s University, I submit to discussion the following notes. Britten sounds to me like a spiritual transcending chant and song of death beyond life in the heart of life itself. That love, that life, that transcendence is like the figure of the boy killed in Curlew River or some other operas, since I will only deal with operas, including of course Death in Venice, the perfect sacred garden and cemetery of Benjamin Britten, the graveyard of his belief that life can only be in death, or if you prefer that death can only exist in life.
Here are the operas I will consider after collecting them. Some are ballets, some are vaudevilles, some are operettas, but all are about that strange foreigner who is the only stranger in our life that counts: death, death our friend, death our lover, death our life partner.
Thinking of it now, just at the beginning of this search and hunt, I feel death is the most beautiful experience man can have, and that is not morbid because any “Danse Macabre” is not a simple ordinary dance. It is a trance that leads us to bliss and full mental orgasmic enjoyment.
One of my starting block is La Chaise Dieu’s Danse Macabre and I add to this first lap my review of two books on this Danse Macabre.
